What Happens During Your Dental Cleaning

Most of us come to the dentist twice a year to get our routine dental cleanings. At Dental Arts KG in Kew Gardens, NY, one of our favorite things to do is to keep our patients informed and educated on exactly what goes in our office. Being that dental cleanings are one of the most routine and common reasons for a visit to our office, we found it fitting to write a blog about what happens during these appointments. You may be familiar with the amount of time it takes, or even the sounds associated with a dental cleaning, but what exactly are we doing when we stick that hook tool in your mouth? Read on to find out.

The Procedure

Dental cleanings are not created equal, meaning if you maintain regular dental care you can expect just a routine removal of plaque or tartar, and polishing of the teeth. Our dental hygienists will be sure to address any points or areas that need your attention so that you can achieve a more thorough routine at home.

If a deeper clean is needed, removal of the tartar from above and beneath the gums is essential. Tartar buildup can eventually lead to gum disease, so it is imperative that our office we fix the problem as soon as possible.

Should You Be Scared?

You should never be scared of making a dental cleaning important. What you should be scared of is not making your oral care a priority. At Dental Arts KG, we attempt to go above and beyond to make you feel as comfortable and safe as possible in our office.

Feel free to give our office in Kew Gardens, NY, a call, and we would be more than happy to schedule a consultation or set up a first appointment. We can’t wait to meet you!
