Immediately after your procedure, our team will supply you with gauze packs that are placed in your mouth. Firm, yet gentle, pressure can be applied and can then be removed an hour later if the bleeding has stopped. If the affected area continues to bleed, then you can place another gauze pack on the area for another 30-45 minutes.
- Do not rinse vigorously.
- Do not feel the area.
- Do not smoke.
- Do not take part in any strenuous activities for the week following your procedure.
You are encouraged to brush your teeth, but avoid the extraction area until we give you the O.K. Use mouthwash or a saltwater rinse after the bleeding has stopped. They should be three times a day, particularly after eating. Our team also encourages individuals to enjoy some downtime after an extraction. Remaining active can affect bleeding. Bleeding, pain, and swelling are all common following an extraction and can be controlled with pressure, a cold compress, and medication. Keeping your mouth clean is one the most important things to do after this procedure. Continually use a saltwater rinse or mouthwash to keep the area clean and infection free.
